So, I'm a fifty something guy, married to a Mongolian Fashionista. She knows clothes and how to put an outfit together. Yes, I did say Mongolian... When we first got together nearly 10 years ago, she threw most of my clothes out. I was a bit horrified at the moment, but soon came to rely upon her ideas of style and taste.
I will say that I'm a bit of a hoarder when it comes to clothes. I confess that it is time to clean my closet again. I don't always wear my "work' clothes for doing work, so I wind up with more "work" clothes, and an annoyed wife.
I do dress much better as a result of our marriage, so I thought I might share some of her fashion sense with you. Guys, 90% of us don't have a clue about looking good, so we fall back upon the common "T-shirt" as the center point of our wardrobe. It doesn't have to be this way. We all long to be checked out by the opposite sex, and I mean that they are looking because they like what they see, not looking in horror.
First thing, the older you get, the harder it is to get weight off. It can be done, and the best place to start is by putting that beer down. Alcohol, while providing a nice feeling when it is first consumed, is a lot of calories in a readily convertible form. You don't have to stop drinking, but limit it. Think about what you consume. Try keeping a record of what you eat for a week. Depending on your profession, and personal activity level, 200 calories a day is a reasonable level to aim for. You can loose weight by reducing the number of calories you consume each day, but if you add physical activity to your routine, you will lose weight faster. Your weight is the driving force behind your looks. If your britches were made by a tent maker you might want to do some soul searching for the reason. I'm guilty of being a boredom eater. My body doesn't work as well as it once did, so sitting in the recliner munching chips and nursing a cold wet one is attractive I admit, but go to bed, or take a walk...
Don't be afraid of color, cut, and comfort.
